Follow Jesse On April 24th 2015, a storm developed near Hays, Kansas….and the chaser convergence was intense. Many of us followed this beast in the general I-70 corridor as it rolled east with brief “tornado”, funnels, and gustnado types of events, and hail. Many images later, I made it back to Salina, Kansas ahead of it as it turned into a huge, massive, triple-stack shelf formation extending for miles. Although it was rather windy, I made this capture near the I-70/ I-135 intersection of that area. It was still pretty mean here, and the orange-pink lightning is somewhat visible in this frame after sunset…..

Follow Brandon Watching the storms line out and seeing this shelf roll by just after sunset meant our chase was over Friday, but it was still a sight to see. Cant wait to get out on the road again.

The Ponds of Summerville, SC. Photo taken right after a heavy thunderstorm and sun setting on misty pond. About two minutes earlier the sky was golden. Then it started to turn a pinkish hue. This view lasted less than two minutes, so I just got lucky.
