Occasionally when we chase storms and after days and days of travel…thousands of kilometres, we tag onto a storm that just gives and gives…this supercell was the most amazing storm we have ever seen, here south of Matheson the full glory of the storm will not fit into even a wide angle lens…no matter there is enough drama here for a lifetime…within the rainwrapping mesocyclone on the right is hidden a large tornado, on the left the first touchdown of an anticyclonic tornado sets well against the backlight…need I say anymore !! South of Matheson, Colorado 4th June 2015

The mesocyclone of the Simla/Matheson supercell was so powerful most of the precipitation was drawn into the primary cyclonically rotating centre, however this supercell had a trick on its inflow southeast quadrant a long lived anticyclonic rotation….photographed from its eastern quadrant the vault towers above punching through its rotating anvil…the dark silhoette of a powerful tornado can be seen within the rainwrapp…..South of Matheson, Colorado 4th June 2015

One of the most amazing days of my entire chasing career right here. The Rochelle/Fairdale EF-4 Tornado. This thing was absolutely insane. I still can’t get over it all these months later! I always said I wanted to witness a wedge at some point in my life, and this was the one that I could use to check that off my bucket list. Hate it when they affect people in negative ways, but I can’t help but be in pure awe of nature’s greatest power. The weather.

My chase buddy Andy Barber and I just got home after our first chase of the new southern hemisphere “Down Under” storm season tonight. It was so good to see a storm again after a long winter..! Here’s one of the closer CGs I scored in a place funnily enough named Texas, QLD Australia. Yes we have a place called Texas in Australia too.

Base to Tower. One frame in a timelapse I did back on August 2nd. the symmetry in the lightning and the overall structure maturity make this one of my favorites from that night.

Since it’s lightning here and the power just went out, I guess now would be an appropriate time to share a shot from this weekends crazy crazy weather around SWFL.
