Follow Mike Early this morning around 4:15am. Darwin, Northern Territory Australia. Flash grounded about 6km away. It was a -39kA stroke. Its aspect was so perfect that after the return stroke it beaded out…very impressive. Rapidly rotating wall cloud associated with a supercell on 3/15/16 west of Springfield, IL. As mentioned in the tornado picture, this storm had great structure. It also was a solid lightning producer, with a fair amount of lightning near the wall cloud. It made for a beautiful scene. The tornado just west of Springfield occurred not long after this.
