Follow Hank Through a different facebook group I heard about the tragic death yesterday of an aurora photographer in Tasmania, due to cancer. Her name was Alison Painter. Her husband Wayne shared some of her photographs and it really affected me. I can’t share her pics here, but I’ll put a link in the comments. The best I can do is share an Aurora photograph that I just recently took on my own 20th wedding anniversary. Wayne Painter, this photo is in honor of your wife and I would like to donate any likes it gets to her, Alison Painter. There is no doubt that she will be missed. There would be no need to include me in any top-10 if it goes that far - I realize that this post will get more likes than my photograph deserves— in Scott, Saskatchewan.#7 David Mayhew (196 Likes)

Since the Aurora Borealis pics are doing well here, I’ll post another one of mine, shot in the Netherlands on March 17 of this year wink emoticon . This was the first one I actually saw with the naked eye. On average we get to see the Northern Lights this bright maybe about once per decade ‘down here’, so I was glad I was able to capture them. Due to cloud cover we missed the other large events of 2015. Picture shot on the Houtribdijk between Lelystad and Enkhuizen, with a Nikon D7000 and Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 DX II, at 11mm, ISO800, 15 sec. and f2.8.
