Accumulating snow has invaded the Rockies and high plains as of this morning and a cold front continues to march to the South and East ushering in frigid temperatures. Heavy snow is falling in the Rocky Mountains and portions of the Dakotas. Temperatures have plummeted by 50 degrees in some locations with wind chills in the -20 to -40 range. Snow will continue to increase on the high plains with light accumulations. Heavier snow is anticipated on the Southern plains when the front passes and arctic air takes hold into Thursday. Snow accumulation of 6+ inches are certainly possible in Eastern Oklahoma, Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri. Accumulations of 3+ will be possible into Ohio and Indiana. Ice will also be a problem further South into Tennessee, Southern Arkansas, Southern Oklahoma and North Texas. Blizzard conditions could also develop into portions of Minnesota. These type of temperatures are deadly if you are exposed for even a short amount of time. If you have to drive in these locations, please use caution.

Cold front position on Thursday 12/5.

NAM model showing possible snow accumulation totals by 6pm Friday 12/6. Just one model not a guarantee.
A Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Storm Watches are in place for a several locations this morning.
