The Mackay storm season just keeps on getting better and better - This is without doubt the best start I’ve ever witnessed to the start of the season! I had a good feeling about today, with strong diffluence at 500hPa providing ample lift ahead of a mid to upper level trough. Conditions were primed during the late afternoon/evening with dewpoints pushing past 26c and just after 11pm this nuclear bomb EXPLODED just off the Coast with multiple clear air strikes pulsing 15-20km well away from the storm. This was shot at 17mm and is one of many huge bolts this storm produced.

An incredible sunset over the midwest of Western Australia on Monday evening. The lightning was almost constant.

Perth putting on a show again last night! I bet everyone thinks we have it great over here for storm chasing….in reality we were just blessed with a freak week! ISO 100, f5, 30 sec exp , at 16 mm! — at Jindalee Beach.

Here in Western Australia we have copped a week long hot summer storms. This is my best photograph of the lot. Not the best idea standing out in the field with a tripod
