Tornado, tornado……not quite. This supercell near Akron, Colorado looked likely to produce right in front of us as we got up close but never quite got the job done. Incredible structure with the mesocyclone and mid level inflow visible way up above us. 17th June 2013.

like everyone else, i’m a little tired of the snow, but, here in new england, on march 1 we were again dumped on so i took the lemons and made lemonade by photographing individual snowflakes . . . this snowflake was only 2mm and a simple hex plate form, but rather elaborately decorative, wouldn’t you agree? . . . 3/1/15, Ledyard CT USA

A Sunday Evening Sunset After seeing this Lutheran church outside of Louisville, NE I kept it in mind to return at some point when the skies would cooperate for a sunset shot. My patience rewarded me with a spectacular display. It was about a 60 mile round trip drive just to get this scene, but I believe it was totally worth it. Shot on 7/21/13

Rain Dance of the Lighting God - On the Colorado Plateau, hot days can mean stormy nights; on this late August day in 2011, the temperatures were high and by early evening a storm began to boil out of open sky above the Paria Plateau. Hours later this storm would become quite the conflagration – some say the biggest electrical storm in the area in 37 years – but, early in its development, the sunset lit up the rain curtain falling from the clouds as the Lightning God Danced.

By far one of my favorite images I have ever shot. I was returning from Isle of Palms through Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina during Hurricane Irene that sideswiped us on August 26, 2011. I glanced over and saw the rainbow, I almost jumped out of a moving car to capture this lol.

May 21st 2011, Topeka Kansas. What a wonderful storm this was. Watched it develop from and updraft into this brilliant supercell!
