Throwback Thursday!
After Campo, I’d thought “this is as good as it gets.” It only took 2 years to prove how wrong that was. This tornado is from June 22, 2012 in Fall River County, South Dakota. I’ve been lucky to see many amazing and significant tornadoes since - Bennington, El Reno, Pilger, Coleridge - but this one still easily takes the cake for aesthetics.

This supercell spins in front of us after crossing the border from Colorado into the Oklahoma panhandle. A large cone hangs amongst the green haze from the cut as the rotation corkscrews almost 360 degrees. We would get smashed by the RFD and the storm would go on to produce incredible structure, lightning, colours and at least one tornado near Guymon, Oklahoma - May 31st 2007.

An Southern hemisphere Supercell… This was over 7 years ago now on February 7, 2007 in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. It was only tiny in size and only lasted for about an hour.. but it had some pretty decent LP structure and dropped hail up to the size of golf balls.
