That day was my first forecast on an actual chase. I then understood what the thrill of finding a needle in a haystack was all about Baxter Spring, Kansas. 27 April 2014.

Adding to the many shots posted from Central Oklahoma last night, here’s my contribution! Storms were entirely unexpected last night (the NWS had us in a 0% chance of rain and no models broke out anything until the runs a few hours prior to the event), but a boundary of some sort sparked the initial line and provided a night full of lightning. As the first line of storms moved through (there were four rounds!), a lot of other chasers and I were treated to an amazing shelf cloud from our perch on a popular spotting hill. I have seen pictures of “double shelf” structure like this, but had never witnessed it myself! Definitely goes down in the books as one of my most favorite shelf clouds and storm shots of all time! Nikon D90 ISO 200 f/7.1 15 seconds.

The Old Kent County Jail - Clairemont, Texas Est. 1895 The ruins of this piece of Texas history lie covered in graffiti and filled with beer bottles and trash. I traveled there during the day a couple months ago, and did some photos towards sunset. They didn’t do the place justice though, so I decided to clean it up a bit, and drop in the storms from last week, along with a Milky Way shot from earlier this year in West Texas.

Racing the wave in Texas on 5th June 2013. This enormous supercell lasted well into the night and developed an extremely powerful and damaging rear inflow jet that hit Lubbock, Texas with fury. We lost our rear window to flying debris carried by the 80mph+ straightline winds which also caused havoc in the city.

An incredible striated severe storm last night west of Norman, OK along with a CG lightning strike. Was treated this along with other chasers on top of a hill looking towards Norman.

Changed my photo for the day, found this gym instead in all this pics I took tonight. This is looking towards OKC Oct 6, 2014 with a gorgeous stacked plate shelf moving towards Norman OK.

Monday October 6th would prove to be the most dynamically ranged weather photo op day of the season here in Spring Arbor MI. Rainbows, hail, incredible clouds and this final storm that went through as the sun set lighting the underbelly with an amazing ribbon of pink that the pic doesn’t do justice for. This is looking down my street.

A powerful bolt of lightning was a special treat this night. It’s not as good of an image as the other one I posted a couple days ago but I still like it. ISO 200 Aperture 8 Shutter 6 seconds.

I love the photos on this site, simply amazing. We had a huge dust storm over our property in the Central Wheatbelt, east of York, Western Australia, a few years ago and just made it to the house after taking a few dozen photos.

Congrats Everyone!
