I can’t seem to shoot lightning, and we don’t have many tornadoes here in new england, but what we do have is alot of winter, and usually a fair amount of snow, and my favorite hobby is the macro portraiture of individual snowflakes . . . such as this 4mm stellar dendrite, captured using a canon powershot a4000 pocket compact, the LBS lens and Snow Studio II.

July 16, 2009 - The most spectacular pileus display on a towering cumulonimbus that I’ve had the opportunity to witness so far. The pileus continued to flow and layer around the cb for what seemed like forever.

Tonight’s moon rise in Spring Arbor MI had something extra special. A lower and upper moon pillar. This is quite a rare optic phenomenon created by ice crystals aloft. Its the same effect that causes light pillars.
